Karl Stromberg, played by actor Curt Jurgens, is the main villain in the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me. His character exists only in the film-- he was never mentioned in the novel-- making him the first Bond villain to be created specifically for a movie.

In the film, he is a very successful businessman owning a large shipping company that supplies him with incredible wealth. He is obsessed with the ocean and lives in a submergible palace , which is appropriately named Atlantis. His ultimate scheme is to destroy the above water civilization to give birth to an undersea civilization.
